We had a delightful start to the day as my cousin Y and her husband S joined us at the cafe in Adelaide airport as we were waiting for our plane. So we had 40 minutes or so to catch up which was nowhere near long enough. We bid an emotional farewell and boarded our pretty little plane. Travelled to Alice Springs. Had a Greek salad for lunch and a mooch in the town. Visited the library which has RFID and self service and was very up to date. Don't think I mentioned earlier that the library at Glenelg has a loan limit of 100 items!! Before we went to the hotel we had 3 very interesting visits. First to the Royal Flying Doctor Service which is very much in use as a regular medical service over an enormous area. We watched a film and tried to stay awake in the warmth and the gloom of the room. The to the School of the Air where Erin introduced us to this school by television and computers, once again over a large area. If you remember Charles and Diana speaking to children over a link up early in their marriage, this is where they were. I sponsored a book for $20 which will have my name in. Both of these last places were very interesting especially as I have a nurse and a teacher for parents. Then to the Telegraph Station which is a reconstruction of the homestead and station as it used to be. Also the source of the 'springs' are there. Very unusually , there was water in the creek. The desert is greener than usual at the moment. We checked in,then later walked down the road to the Lasseters' Hotel where I had veggie enchiladas. We sat outside and had a drink with a couple from the tour and greatly enjoyed a couple singing and playing fiddle and guitar. I was a bit merry! Alan took a photo of me in the hotel's reception area to the amusement of the bouncers. Neighbours fans will understand.
