Checking in at Sydney airport we were informed that we weren't seated together. Frank protested to the staff member who took about 15 minutes to rearrange the seating plan in premium economy for both legs of the flight.
Two other couples in our group also needed to be reseated.
Thankfully once this was done we had time for a drink, shop and relax.
I went online as it was free.
Found out that the next book in our book group is Nuns and Soldiers by Iris Murdoch. Then found that MK libraries don't stock it so ordered a used copy on amazon. I love technology!
Settled into our seats. We are so pleased that we were able to travel in premium economy.
There's more legroom and there are pods under the window that you can put your belongings in and still have access to.
After our meal I felt sleepy so had a couple of hours shut eye.
After 8 hours or so we landed at Singapore. Lovely view of the nighttime coastline with all the anchored boats.
Off the plane with all our carry on for just over an hour then back on.
Time then went all elastic. The flight was about 13 hours but we altered our watches early on so...
I watched the film The Artist. Loved it, what a great concept and so well done. I did nod off several times but was able to pause it each time so didn't miss anything. After a meal at about 1am I had a good sleep. As I'd slept on the first flight too I woke earlier than most. A steward made me a cup of jasmine tea which was one of the best drinks I've had for a while.
I then watched the Titanic episode of Downton Abbey - was it the first one?
Really enjoyed it and will now borrow the boxed set from the library.
Also read lots more of In the Wet by Nevil Shute. What an intelligent and unique author he was.
We were fortunate to have a space behind our seats which was large enough to use for stretching exercises.
Landed at Heathrow at about 6.30
Used the express passport machines for the first time. Not all that express!
Made our way to the Titan member of staff waiting with the drivers.
Chilly but bright and sunny as we travelled back in a minibus with B and H and P and B.
Spent the day unpacking and washing.
To bed at 8 and slept 11 hours straight.
