After so many encouraging comments I feel led to add something to my wiblog...

The only problem is that I can't decide what.

Do you want to hear some more about builders, buildings and building projects?
If not, then turn away now...

Having just about finished destroying the lighting in our building, the building contractors started painting the stairway the other day. Being a semi-lazy person I always get the lift in the morning, but at the end of the day it's usually faster to walk down the stairs. Walking with wet paint is hazardous. The first few days were OK. I'd potter down a few flights of stairs avoiding brushing against the wet wall, walk round the painters and continue on my way. But once the wall was complete they started on the handrailling. I'd potter down few flights of stairs, walk round the cleaner mopping the stairs, slip on a wet patch, reach out and grab the handrail to catch myself from falling...
I'm just glad that hadn't painted that bit of rail by then.

Of course, if you speak to Mitsy she'd say that the building work I've been doing lately has resulted in a far more hazardous situation out in our back yard. Rebuilding a kitchen is easy- a nice man turns up delivers a whole truck load of new units and you find a helpful husband to help fit it. However, disposal of the old units without a vehicle is slightly harder. For the past few months our backyard has been a cupboard graveyard. Having watched the cat pick her way gingerly through rubbish the other day, I realised that that I ought to do something or I'd have a H&S incident at home to deal with. Helpful husband was called, and a few phone calls later we have a man with a van whose agreed to come this week and relieve us of our rubbish for a small fee.
Mitsy may go out to play in safety once again.

Apart from the safety hazards in our building and the mountains of work that I actually have to do when I finally reach my desk, bring an enginner has its postive points. There's a project building flood defences up near Bakewell that we're doing at the moment. I'm not actually involved in the project, but that didn't stop me joining in the tart munching time this morning. One of my collegues returned from a fortnight up on site with a party sized real Bakewell tart. Imagine a cake made of 50% almonds, and 50% sugar on a thin base of pastry... now imagine it's 40cm in diameter...
now imagine now sick I feel having eaten a huge slice.

And now it's time for lunch!
