Unexpected wonderfulness

In order to escape the hell that is work at the moment, I went into town at lunchtime today and went to buy some tickets for a concert at the local theatre that Dith and I fancied going to.

I walked into the ticket office, asked if there were any tickets left for Thursday night. I was told that there were and given a choice of cheap, medium or comparatively expensive tickets. I went for the middle, being neither an extravagant or stingy sort of person, and I handed over the wonderful plastic card which I have that they seem to except instead of cash these days.

Then two wonderful and unexpected things happened.

Firstly behind the gentleman with whom I was talking there appeared a strange creature pulling faces... it took me a while to resigster his presence but when I did there were great crys of 'Ben!' and 'Trace, how you doing?'. Seeing friends whom you haven't seen for ages when you least expect it is always wonderful - and unexpected!

Secondly the gentleman whom I was buying from informed me that I had credit on my account, and asked if I'd bought a gift voucher, or returned any tickets. I answered with an honest 'no'. He then called over another man and much discussion was had- the name on the computer was mine, the address was mine, but the money I did not recall being mine. Ben asked if my husband would have bought a gift voucher. I laughed. In then end it was decided that if the computer said they owed me then they did. My piece of plastic was handed back unused and I walked out of the ticket office with two free tickets. A free night out with a friend is always wonderful and unexpected.

My day seems so much better now.
