musical chairs... and lights... and carpets...

Updating this log is generally delayed due to two major aspects in my life: Work and DIY.

Working takes up the most time (about 50 hours a week including travelling time) but creates a small income.

DIY takes up a large portion of the remaining time I'm awake due to having the formentioned size of income (i.e. too small to employ someone els eto do the work) and having an inversely sized house (i.e. large)! It creates no income, but lots of mess!

This weekend has been particularly busy, and has involved a trip back to my childhood in the form of playing musical chairs... and carpets... and lights.

My parents decided that they wanted back the dinning room chairs that they had lent us. This had the possibility of resulting in one of two things: either we ate kneeling, or we got new chairs. The second option seemed preferable and a trip to the local house clearance furniture warehouse with my mum's purse secured it. The neighbours may have pondered why I unloaded 4 chairs from a large car and then loaded it with 4 different chairs, but it made perfect sense to those of us on the inside.

The carpet moving was accompanyed by music and only involved carrying a large roll of carpet from one room to another. However with the required furniture moving and re-sizing it was by far the lengthiest game of the weekend.

The musical lights involved a three-way rotation to solve the fluoresenttubeinbedroomanddullbulbinkitchen problem. It all became clear after we'd finished and we sat down for an illuminating cup of tea.

Now the weekend is over I've come to Work for a little rest.
