"Urine Watch"

Cats like playing games. Our's plays a lot.

My dear Mitsy got ill. The vet said we needed a urine sample- we tried, and ended up with numerous wet patchs on our hall carpet- see www.johnheronproject.com for details of the 'urine watch' saga. Eventually we won the 'battle of wills' game and delivered an exquisite sample to the vet.

Unfortuntely the cat then decided to play another game: 'trying to starve oneself to death'. The vet joined in the game. Mitsy went into hospital overnight. She came out re-hydrated, but with a bad hair-do.

She spent most of sunday complaining about the poor standard of hairdressing in these parts that has left her with a half shaved neck (blood sample) and bald patch on her leg (drip), and playing the 'I've got a week of eating to catch up on' game... four meals a day might be considered excessive for some, but she has been very vocal about the empty state of her stomach.

Now she's feeling a bit better I started playing a new game with her: the 'trick the cat into eating tablets' game. Wood went away on business overnight. Together the two of us can force the twice-a-day tablets down Mitsy's throat. On my own I fail. I tried the 'sitting on the cat' method he suggested, but by the time I'd opened her mouth with one hand and reached out with my other hand to pick up the bright pink tablet, she's manage to squirm he way out from between my legs and exited the room. I decided to use the excessive-eating factor to my advantage. Last night I powered a tablet and mixed it into some gormet food. After some debate and complaining about the funny taste (she new it was drugged) Mitsy ate her supper. Unfortuntely her hunger pains weren't so great this morning and I think that only half of it has gone down.

Oh well, Wood is home this evening. Then we can play the 'chase the cat around the house' game.

I love my cat.
