Update #3 - Stripping

'Wood Towers' (like Fawtly Towers only different) is being decorated, or rather the hallway is. It's a big job, and I am begining to think that I should have 'got a man in' to do it.

Imagine a narrow end-terrace house where the hallway stretches from the front door all the way to the back of the house, with stairs leading to an equally long landing upstairs. Now imagine 12 doorways and 3 windows to work around. Now imagine very high ceilings. Now imagine hideous foam textured wallpaper. Now imagine that the wallpaper has been painted over and the paint is flaking. Now imagine that our cat hates the paper so much she's started clawing strips off it. Now imagine the previous owner was paranoid and stuck everything down with silicone sealant (including the curtain poles and some of the wallpaper).

I borrowed a friend's steam wallpaper stripper. I borrowed a few friends (but they only stayed for an evening). I spent two whole weekends (20 hours) stripping wallpaper.
BUT there's still more paper to remove before I can start painting.

I have come to the conclusion that either I'm r-e-a-l-l-y s-l-o-w a-t s-t-r-i-p-p-i-n-g w-a-l-l-p-a-p-e-r
OR our hallway is expanding.

The theory is that while I'm not watching the hall gets a few inches longer. Its growth is not immediaitely noticable, but it becomes apparrent when trying to finish stripping the wallpaper. I have also noticed the increased length when wandering down the corridor in the dark in the middle of the night to find the bathroom. The cat tells me she also has to walk further to find her food bowl.

Any advice on how to stop this hallway growth phenomenom, or any offers of decorating help, would be greatfully received - particularly by the cat.
