As promised the story of how the thinking bench and the steps got put in, in the middle of nowhere (according to the bloke I met the other day anyway).
His story was that there had apparently been alot of low level smuggling going on in the area back in the late 1970's and because they wanted to observe what was going on the authorities pursuaded the local council to provide a bench and steps to the beach. Apparently the thrust of the argument went something along the lines of this being part of a coastal path & there needed to be some kind of facility for visitors who were doing that bit of the coastal walk. When in fact what they meant was we need a convienient look out location and reasonably easy way to get down onto that bit of the beach.
Anyway according to the man that was the story of the thinking bench. I didn't like to ask what his involvement in all this had been, (although I was dying to know).
Apart from that nothing to add, apart from today has been yet another cold but bright day.
