Day 31 - Choice

Why is some people think choices and decision making are simple matters? Apart from when I go out to eat (when I am so fussy that it is a simple matter of finding the item I like on the menu) choices seem to be v. complicated. There is always some trade off to be found.

It doesn't help that I always seem to look at things in a wierd way which means I get wound up by others (normally quite reasonable) decision making. Take for example the fact that the Easter Sunrise service this year is apparently not quite sunrise. From what I can gather this decision was reasonably taken to encourage others to attend. I however, have found myself ridiculously wound up because from where I am sitting it is a decision which has been made with no theological consideration and inadvertantly reinforces patriarchy.

For those of you who wonder how I make this leap, my logic goes as follows:
1. The purpose of the sunrise service is to celebrate Christ is risen
2. The sunrise element ties in with the initial discovery on Easter morning that Christ had risen which was made by women
3. The shift to a later time, then ties in with Peter and John rushing to the tomb and finding that the women had not gone mad and infact yes Christ has risen.

As somebody who views the sunrise service as my favourite service of the year for the primary reason of celebrating the ressurection, but also the secondary reason of it being the main service where we get to celebrate the role of women as the main supporting characters rather than the male disciples I am a bit disappointed.

See I told you I was a bit wierd in how I look at stuff.
