There is a billboard advert for the Princes Trust at the moment which says, "God?, Father Christmas?, Some young people don't even believe in themselves"
Whilst not keen on equating God with Father Christmas it is an effective advert which highlights the sad truth in todays world; alot of young people today don't have belief in themselves. If they are struggling to believe in themselves how are they to believe honestly that anybody else might care? The advert shows us that if churches are going to be successful in youth evangelism they need to recognise this and work out how they are going to deal with it.
It should make us extremely wary of selling a message of a God who gives unconditional acceptance if we as the church (general) can't do the same.
