It's that time of year where the line ups are being posted and tickets are selling fast. So for those who have not decided yet I have decided to do a bit of a festival round up (also it will remind me there is life after the exams which my students start taking on Tuesday).
Firstly Cambridge Folk Festival ; already sold out, but the website says it has a cracking line up including: Cerys Matthews, The Chieftains, Cara Dillon and Chumbawamba acoustic, who appear to be popping up all over the place this summer
Beautiful Days appears to have tickets left and according to the website will also allow you to see Cara Dillon and Chumbawamba acoustic. In addition you are told you will get some wonderful delights including: Buzzcocks, The Selector, Hayseed Dixie and of course the Levellers.
Greenbelt has, again according to the website, Micheal Franti and Spearhead, T Bone Burnett, Martyn Joseph and The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain amongst others on the music stage and Jim Wallis, Alistair McIntosh, Shane Clabourne, John Bell and James Alison amongst others doing talky bits. Again there are still tickets available for this
So that's my summer sorted, but other festivals you may wish to consider include:
Fairports Cropredy Convention which besides the legend which is Fairport says it has Steeleye Span playing and some other stuff which sounds quite good and also still has tickets available, according to the website.
Broadstairs Folk Week,Sidmouth Folk Week, Greenman Festival , Wychwood and The Big Chill Oh and Guildfest, but I couldn't get the link to work for that one.
