Doing it on the cheap

Have had an interesting trip to the North East which involved some of the highs and lows of doing life on the cheap.

The highs: Newcastle Youth Hostel . Going into the shared room it was less than £16 a night including breakfast (which was either full cooked English or continental). I have to say I was well impressed. The lovely old woman I'd been sitting next to on the coach realising I had no idea where I was going when I got to Newcastle and so popping me in her taxi, because "it's on the way".

The lows: The coach breaking down on the way there and so spending 2 hours stuck in Milton Keynes amongst flying ants. Then coach one on the way back being diverted through Sherwood Forest as a result of the M1 being closed resulting in a delay before coach two got stuck in a traffic jam in central London.

Also got to see Mama Mia whilst I was up there. Highly recommend it as mindless fluff to make you laugh and just relax to. Also thought the way that it celebrates middle aged women was wonderful.
