Today I went up to see the Constable exhibition at the Tate. It is a good exhibition, if somewhat sparse - I think they could have done with putting on a Constable & ...... exhibition.

Constable's work has always had a special place with me because much of his work is based around Tractor Land and I have fond memories of Flatford particularly. There were two works I found particularly interesting: the jumping horse one because the horse is jumping over a fence that existed as the boundary between Suffolk and Essex and the view of Sailsbury Cathedral. I thought the Sailsbury Cathedral painting was probably the best work on display because the foreground is typical Constable, but there is almost a second picture in the rear & it is quite striking.

If you get like traditional landscape art I really would recommend this exhibition to you.
