Hippy holidays in the UK

Regular readers will be more than aware that I agree with this Times article that festivals are great. In fact rather than a traditional family holiday our holiday is split across the summer, taking in a variety of festivals. This does however mean that at the beginning of the season Third Party is liable to miss the odd day off school, which I don't actually regard as a problem because I have no doubt that trolling around festies is an educational experience in its own right. It gives her an appreciation of a wider range of styles of music than many of her contemporaries have.

Anyway this week I was organised and actually got a holiday form. When I went to fill it in I discovered that (i) I should have got it done 14 days in advance, not on the day before she would be absent & (ii) that it was designed for a certain type of parent. It referred to a 14 day "annual holiday". So I had to put a note on to the effect we don't do "14 day annual holiday" but rather just up and off around the country to listen to music in fields every so often.

Oh and incase anybody's interested this weekend it's Guilfest . Also checking are any of the folkie types doing Cropredy this year?
