What's it all about?

I was just in the middle of writing a highly indulgent piece of about not looking forward to the summer holidays when I was stopped in my tracks by the update I got about the Pitstop Ploughshares trial. The verdict is due today or tomorrow. For those who were at Greenbelt last year this is trial Ciaron O'Reilly (one of those on trial) was there talking about.

For those who aren't aware the trial relates to the following:
"Before the illegal invasion & bombing of Iraq, five members of the pacifist Catholic Worker movement made their way into Shannon Airport and non-violently disarmed a U.S. navy war plane in the early hours of February 3rd. 2003. Their actions were inspired by the vision of Isaiah 2:4 to 'beat swords into ploughshares.'" (from the pitstop ploughshares website).

Whatever ones personal views (and I'm guessing there will be a few different ones amongst people reading this) this is another example of radical Christianity actually being lived out. These five people could be facing jail for living out biblical teaching (according to their interpretation) and so need our prayer & support urgently.
