Also went to the Norman Kember interview which was enlightening & somewhat disturbing in equal measure. It was amazing listening to this man who was sitting chatting to Lucy Winkett about his extrodinary experiences as a hostage in Iraq, in much the same way that any grandfatherly figure will just chat about any other event.
He said during the interview that he has a book coming out next spring, which I am sure will be interesting.
What was most heartwarming though was one evening when I was going round the resource tent at Greenbelt and saw Norman standing in the peace organisation area chatting easily to a young person about the purpose of the stall and the issues involved, in exactly the same way as has every year for some time at both Greenbelt and the Baptist Assembly. Bearing in mind that is the picture of him many of us will have had had in mind during his captivity, and believed we were unlikely to see again, it almost brought a tear to the eye to see it become a reality again this year.
