So September is here, Greenbelt is already becoming a memory and I'm moving back into the routine of "everyday life"; a new year has begun.
Yet it feels like I'm in one of those Dr. Who episodes where, whilst on the surface, it all seems to be earth as you remember it but when you get out of the Tardis and start moving about everything has changed and you realise reality has shifted.
If I compare the situation at the end of June, when the summer started to now you'll get a picture of what I mean:
June
Church still in time of pastoral vaccancy
Commuted to work by bus, knew the faces around me
Working part time as an established member of staff
Just teaching 1 subject at AS/ A Level
Mum on the end of the phone
Now
New minister installed and establishing his way of doing stuff
Commuting to work by train, surrounded by strangers
The new person, working full time
Teaching a range of subjects at a range of levels
Mum not on the end of the phone
There are a range of metaphors people use to describe this stuff: the seasons changing, the end of one chapter and the beginning of another, the wheel has turned or I've taken another turn in the journey - me I'll go with the second one.
As for this post - I guess you should treat it as your introduction to the new chapter. I can't promise that it'll be any more interesting than the last one to read about or really very different, because as with all new chapters it's still the same story, but anywhere here goes............
