If you are UK and bored on a Wednesday night at the moment may I suggest Who Do You Think You Are? as a reasonable, lightweight, programme to watch. Whilst being, to a certain extent, an exercise in making geneology look deceptively easy it also provides some brief but interesting glimpses into the social history of this country (& as this weeks programme showed Ireland).
I found the episode this week with Barbara Windsor personally quite interesting, as it was one of those rare programmes which visited the beautiful Suffolk / Essex village of Bures.
Whereas Barbara Windsor's relatives had moved out of there and on to the East End my grandmother, through her life made the journey in the opposite direction; being born in the East End and living in Bures during the last part of her life.
