The map also has a cave on, containing a pile of books and cd's. Whilst the cave part is a more metaphor for where I hide away when tired and just need to chill the books and cd's it contains are as concrete as can be.
They are there because I live in the entertainment age. They are there because people have always told stories. They are there because I like to chill; they are there because I like to think. They are there because I am literate. They are there because I have access to books, music, electricity and on occassions spare disposable income to purchase them with. They are there because they are acceptable past times. They are there because God gave people creativity. They are there because people chose to use their talents, risking ridicule and failiure in pursuit of a dream. They are there because there is a long history of using music as a form of protest. They are there because of the success of a marketing system that supports some artists and writers but not others. They are there because Charlotte Bronte's Shirley was a set text on an A Level English Lit book list and I fell in love with her work, and at GCSE a very wise, wonderful woman introduced me to To Kill A Mocking Bird and Pride and Prejudice. They are there because I had parents who encouraged my love of books and music. They are there because of too many years reading the NME. They are there because of independent bookshops and record shops where you just explore and find wonderful obsure things, rather than being given the limited choice of the cut price supermarket stock. They are because friends recommend. They are there because sometimes it is good to let your mind escape to another world.
