There seems to be alot about at the moment about the level of consumerism that has entered churches & particularly how people relate to corporate worship at the moment. Now I don't know if this is (i) because it's the current fashionable theme, (ii) agenda setting on the part of those whom this is a concern for, (iii) God has something to say on the subject to society generally or (iv) there's not too much about really, it's just I'm coming across lots of stuff on it because God is trying to wake me up to something.
Whichever, the latest article on the topic I've stumbled over as I've checked my e-mails this morning is this one from Christianity Today . It is actually quite good, although it does not really go far enough in looking at how we meet the demands of those from the consumer culture in a church which is counter cultural, seeking commitment based on sacrifice and community. Interesting reading though as I say.
