Rebranding

Any Christian who has watched the "splitter" scene in The Life of Brian will be more than aware of the similarities between Christianity and The Far Left in the UK. This approach of "divided we stand" has given way to a slightly different approach in both camps over recent years and splitting appears to have given way to rebranding and the birth of organisations which are designed to appeal beyond the parent bodies. For example looking at left wing politics Respect has become The Left Alternative and The Stop the War Coalition has grown out of a coalition of organisations, but the Socialist Workers Party have clearly had a key role. Similarly in terms of religion Fresh Expressions has grown out of a coalition where the Church of England is the senior partner and, most amusingly, New Frontiers rebranded by dropping the International, and so became the NF denomination.

Even if internally divisions still exist and splits are still occuring, both in Christianity and Left Wing politics people want to ensure they appear some how relevant and united in a world where they are, it seems, struggling to survive.

So it is that I noted in an e-mail I recieved this afternoon that Pressureworks is going and it's supporters are now being redirected to the Act Now! section of the Christian Aid website. The blurb around the "rebranding" was interesting....it appears that basically the Pressureworks people thought that the Christian Aid site was less than appealing a few years back, but they now have more faith in the overall parent brand and so their work is being rebranded to give a closer affinity to the main organisation.
