Did a bit of reading whilst away, & so thought I'd slip a few book reviews in.

1. The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger - Book is better than the film; more story.

2. New Journeys Now Begin (Learning on the path of grief and Loss) by Tom Gordon - This is a useful book which uses poetry and common sense to explore the subject of grief and loss in a sensitive way. It's one of those books which enables you at points to say - "so this is normal" and at others to feel "so it's ok to feel like this".

3. Memories of Bliss: God, Sex, and Us by Jo Ind - Refreshingly candid and honest using the language one does not normally find in any remotely theological book. It explores the theme of personal sexuality from a range of angles encouraging it to be seen in a positive way and used responsibly but without guilt & for it to be looked at from beyond the usual boundaries and definitions.

4. Dreaming of Eden (Reflections on Christianity and Sexuality) edited by Kathy Galloway - It's an interesting book which looks at the whole range of sexualities and expressions of those sexualities (including celibacy) from a modern Christian perspective. It seeks to move beyond the traditional boxed in, hypocritical conspiracy of silence which the church (in widest sense) has often engaged in into a reflection upon the reality of sexuality and sexual practice within the modern world.
