Today is World Book Day . In recognition of this I've decided to give you my top 5 recommendations of fiction books, (note order and choices are subject to change as often as the wind changes):

1. Junk by Melvin Burgess. It is supposedly a book for teenagers, but is actually a gripping story with quite an adult storyline.

2. To Kill a Mockingbird . Classic story of which you will hear more in a few days time (off to the theatre to see it at the weekend)

3. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. The ultimate classic love story with an amazing heroine - the original girl power.

4. The Rotters Club by Jonathan Coe. Social and political history, a gripping story and a range of interesting sub-themes about relationships make this worth a read.

5. Turning Thirty by Mike Gayle is a fun read. A book to chill out with, to laugh with, to go back to your youth with and to generally enjoy.

I also reckon anything by Douglas Coupland , Joanna Trollope or Charlotte Bronte is worth a read.

Anybody else fancy sharing on this book day?
