Theatre, prejudice and information gathering

Consevapedia is an US Conservative Christian alternative to Wikipedia. I think that the power of such a tool should not be underestimated as increasingly over the coming years young Americans and others are likely to turn for it for information and instead just recieve reinforcement of the prejudices which they may have grown up with. As with any site of this kind it appears that there is just enough "right information" in some entries to avoid disinformation, but so much omission that it becomes dangerously biased, as looking at their definition of the term "liberal" shows.

I think understanding sites like this exist and knowing what young people will be picking up from them is important though. Third Party and I went to the theatre to see To Kill A Mockingbird yesterday. It was a well produced performance where the key themes of Harper Lee's book were well presented. One of those themes is that whilst prejudice may be wrong we need to understand why some people are prejudiced and try to walk in their shoes - things are not always as they may seem.

The other theme that struck me was that just because you know ultimately you won't win you shouldn't avoid doing what is right, you can still make a difference.
