The Guardian has an interview with Norman Kember today - as we run up to his book coming out later in the month.
He summed up what Christianity is about for me when he said, "I didn't regret what I did, because I think there's an element in Christianity of being foolish. I think that Christianity is - people say it's countercultural. The idea that Jesus gave up power, and that God is powerless, is so countercultural in civilisations that revere power. What's Tony Blair about, but power? That's against the principle of Christianity."
On this basis, as Christians, we all probably sometimes find ourselves making decisions that others at best find confusing and at worst believe are wrong on the basis of our Christian consciences - although in our lives they tend to be no where as dramatic as Norman Kembers. When we're making those decisions it's good to have role models to look up to.
