Weekend reflection

Last year there were cards, there were presents, there were reminders and there were phone calls.

This year there may still be a card and a present but recieving is not the same as giving. Mothers Day has become to some extent like Valentines Day - something that the next generation spend out on whilst I sit and smile, a wistful smile of rememberance.

I guess this year it is more important than ever that I try and hold onto Mothering Sunday and what it was about rather than the tradition that has become mothers day. The BBC Ethics site outlines what it is really all about.

So in advance of Sunday I'm sending a hug to anybody reading this who is remembering or regretting on a day which many people actually find incredibly hard for what it has become.

(NB I hope nobody feels uncomfortable about the odd occassions when I post like this - it's just I want to acknowledge what's going on and so step forward into breaking the taboo of loss, which I've talked about before)
