Caitlin Moran - Voice of Reason

So a woman dressed as a cross between Catwoman and Batman in an outfit that would do well at a fetish party provides the most intelligent article I came across yesterday reading through The Times / Times Magazine. It wasn't because other articles weren't saying useful things. It was simply that at the moment  Caitlin Moran is the voice of reason in a world where it feels like the lunatics have taken over the asylum.

Her new book Moranthology is out later this week, (13th), and tracks her writings over the last 20 years. It charts her growth from stroppy teenager with talent to mother with wisdom.

Within the magazine article she voiced the belief that we need to 1) eschew political apathy and cynicism, 2) ask questions and recognise that this is enough, 3) have joy and hope and 4) identify the wavers and ignore them in favour of people who have something more hopeful and good to offer.

My favourite bit of the article was when she explained we need :"stop being angry at "them", and start seeing, instead, some people who are just coping very badly with some admin, or are having to share an office with someone who keeps f***ing things up for them. Just like happens in your job. And then, you can start thinking, "Well - how would I do that job, then?"".

As Christians I think if we think about it that way it will also be much easier to pray for our politicians because what Moran is effectively saying is that we need to do is re-humanize them.

Looking forward to reading the book and seeing what is within it, think there is much to be learnt from her writings.
