Your local candidate would just like to say.......

Yes today is voting day, the polls are open from 7am to 10pm to cast your votes and then candidates will generally be found completely shattered in a local bar (if the count is tomorrow morning) or at count (if you are living in an area where the count is tonight).

I would ask that if you haven't been totally dopey and lost your card you take it with you when you vote as it makes life easier for all concerned.

When you get to where you are voting you are likely to find a couple of people sitting outside, wearing colourful rosettes and asking to take the number off your polling card - these are tellers (and this is what I will be spending this evening doing). They take your number so they can tick you off their lists as having voted but have no way of knowing how you have voted. If you co-operate and give them your number it will mean that the party you said you were likely to vote for when they knocked on your door won't come and "knock you up" (no - not like that, it means knocking on your door to remind you to vote) later in the day when you are in the middle of your chosen soap.

When you go into vote check how many votes you get and the method you are required to use when you vote, this will differ according to where you are.

I should at this point be also saying VOTE LIB DEM. However, because I think voting is a personal thing and should (in local elections atleast) be about the candidate as much if not more than the party I would say vote according to what you think is best for your local area.

My count is tomorrow morning (whilst I will be working) and so wait for a further update on how I got on some time tomorrow afternoon when I get home from work.
