The Girl From Fifteen Years Ago

So there is a song by the Levellers which says, "the girl from 15 years ago has packed and gone away". Those words come to mind today and are significant as I look to move into a different stage of being a "mum" and being "a partner" over the next few days (and yes Treebee please do comment so I can use the relevant unseen bit to get in touch).

It's a few days out from being exactly 15 years since I became "a single mum" and life became just me and Third Party but it's not that far out. For 15 years we have operated as a unit which has seen more ups and downs than I sometimes care to remember. I have seen my toddler not far off their 3rd birthday when her dad went grow up to become an intelligent and wonderful young woman who will celebrate her 18th Birthday at Greenbelt this year.

Regular readers have followed aspects of  her growing up - from being at Primary School when I started writing this to finishing her A Levels next week.

There are a whole range of emotions going on for me right now and I don't know how to express them on here - and in some ways it probably wouldn't be appropriate to. I guess this blog post is in part trying to celebrate that whilst being a mum doesn't stop here that we made it this far and just marking this life event.
