Ended up at the Cornerstone 20's and 30's group (+ other randomers) Lent housegroup last night. It was interesting eye opener for me. First off I have realised that I have grown up in v. white churches and coming to MK is going to be a real cultural experience - didn't even realise bridal payments still existed in much of the world and even with love matches they are still a big deal. It was facinating to find out all about them and the ritual around them, including the negotiations regarding the monetary value of each cow and how it's an indirect negotiation between the parties involved. Oh and apparently you don't pay the whole lot up front because that would be really insulting.
In terms of the actual study we were doing the York Course 2012: Handing on the Torch. Walked into the last week but really impressed with the relevance of the content. Def would consider looking into these resources more if I were setting up a small group.
