T&E has suggested more Ramones and blogging about decent music rather than some of the other crap I waffle on about. As such I am starting one of my occassional series. This time I'm going to try and remember some of the great gigs of my youth.

So obviously it makes sense to start with the Ramones and for that we're off to Brixton Academy, December 1991.

So Hey-ho, let's go. The Ramones were supported on this occassion by The Damned , including a completely out of it Captain Sensible, and I have to say from what I recollect it was an excellent evening of middle aged punk. Sweat, and overpriced larger flowed generously around the venue. Those who were old enough to remember it all when it started and those of us who'd later discovered with joy and relief what existed before Stock, Aitken and Waterman jumped about together to such wonderful tracks as "Sheena is a Punk Rocker", "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue" and "The KKK Took My Baby Away" (all of which may or may not have been played that evening, I really can't remember but I happen to like those tracks.)

As for my recommendations on what to go for music wise from them Anthology: Hey Ho Let's Go provides a comprehensive introduction to the band. For a class original go for 1977's Rocket to Russia.
