REM have split and I have to say I feel fine. This is the End of the World as we Know It was a good song and Out of Time, although in my view the start of their decline in many ways, was iconic. They made a fine contribution to music and that should be acknowledged but to me this is just like seeing your dad retire, inevitable at some point (ok perhaps a wrong analogy to use with my father and his profession but....there you go).
If you really want a reason for angst today the plight of those living on Dale Farm, who have to go back to the High Court again today is a much more appropriate cause to get the tissues out for.
