Seems like Northgate High School in Ipswich has hit the headlines. Guardian uses them as an example in this article. I have to laugh at this, knowing the school and the way that it is in an area where to some extent "selection by mortgage" operates. They are and remain a grammar school in attitude and approach, however many decades it was since they were last one and this type of policy is one which highlights it, (although to be fair I understand their immediate competitor schools have introduced similar restrictions).

It made me smile though because as the article highlights this is one area that teenage girls constantly seek to break the rules on. It is part of the female "Kevin" thing that happens at about 13. However, there is hope - I have discovered that one day just as quickly as Kevin or the female equivalent appears it disappears and its disappearance leaves you just as shocked as you were when it arrived.
