In between the job hunting I've been taking in abit of culture this morning as we enter the period of heritage open days .
This weekend gives anybody with an interest with the remotest interest in history the opportunity to engage with heritage on the cheap, aswell as in some cases giving access to places which are sometimes closed.
This morning I've done the castle, where a student gave us a really interesting tour. Not sure I believed everything he was feeding us but generally a good, informative talk. It also gave me a clearer understanding of part of the history of the university.
This afternoon I'm off to the town hall for a tour and then on Saturday I'm going to have a tour of a library before heading off to look at some miners banners, if all goes to plan. As all of these heritage events are free I intend to take full advantage to find out abit more about my new home.
This is a nationwide event and so if you're wondering what to do this weekend you could do worse than find out what's going on in your area.
