As regular readers may know I am currently updating my blog, roughly each day, in the local library. Over the last fortnight I have come to realise that the library has it's own ickle culture and is a wonderful place. In many ways it is a good public space to be entering.

It has a really good educational programme going on, particularly getting pensioners upto speed on using computers. It is in some ways a joy watching good teaching taking place, because the guy doing the teaching would be highly rated if I was inspecting his work. Before anybody reads that the wrong way those last couple of sentences mean exactly what they say, I am a professional enjoying watching another professional in their work. The family history class, run in conjunction with the local college earlier in the week was also facinating to observe. Didn't really get to observe the rug making, as that was taking place on a different floor to where the computers are based, but it seemed to be a really friendly group.

The facilities here are excellent, and it is a real community resource. This extends to the reference area and main book area aswell. The media resources suite where I am currently residing even sells drinks and is really welcoming.

In terms of the people there are faces I am starting to see on a regular basis as I get a bit of routine going & I am becoming aware of the advantages of getting in around the time the library opens.

This really is a model of good practice in terms of being what a community, public space should be and I am really enjoying being in here.
