"And the minister said his vision of hell is 3 folk singers in a pub near Wells.
Well I've got a vision of urban sprawl.
It's pubs where no one ever sings at all.
And everyone stares at a great big screen,
Overpaid soccer stars, prancing teens,
Australian soap, American rap, Estuary English, baseball caps."
(Part of the lyrics to Roots by Show of Hands).

Well today (if you swap Broadstairs for Wells and minus one folk singer) I've been partaking in the ministers vision of hell and really enjoying it, along with my friend who's staying for a few days. This week is Folk Week which means in addition to finding them in pubs you also find folk singers along the sea front, in the band stand and in fact all over the town.

The band which accompanied lunch were The School of Trobar and have to say that both band and pub (Harpers Bar ) are worthy of recommendation.

The Harwich Morris Men (and women) weren't bad, but probably my favourite discovery of the day were a young duo called Norcsalordie who were playing a set on the sea front today & appear to be playing a range of pubs over the course of the week.
