Annual Debate

The Daily Telegraph , BBC and The Times go for their usual approach. The Independent goes for the class war approach aswell as offering support with those mortals, (from the non-private sector one assumes from the article), who need support with clearing . The Guardian avoids all comment and discussion on their website, simply directing those who need it towards this useful support if it hasn't gone your way.

As for Tractor Girl, well I direct you back to last year's post on this subject and 2005's similar offering. For those who don't want to wade through either (and you need only choose one) the key word is gatekeeping.

Year on year it is getting harder and harder for students who can't or appear unlikely to put in the effort required to achieve the qualification to reach the final exam (or indeed often to make it past the first 6 weeks on an AS or A Level programme) in any institution in this country. I maintain that A Levels are not an easy option and we need to give credit where credit is due and support where things have not gone so well.
