Green Diversity

I think this year I realised more than ever one of the best things about Greenbelt is the diversity. Auntie Doris has talked very movingly of the side I know that many of my more evangelical friends have enjoyed.

A quick glance at the posts of various other people who've got back from Cheltenham or a brief visit to the talks section of the Greenbelt site will illustrate how the spectrum of what has been / is experienced at Greenbelt is huge. Sometimes it can feel like there are several seperate festivals going on together and certainly there is disagreement and debate between the different parts. Yet we are all one together, particularly around the communion on the Sunday morning, coming together with acceptance and respect in our difference.

It's not perfect and it's sometimes messy, but I think that perhaps the spirit and vision of Greenbelt, at the moment, is one of the best visions of what the church could be like (in terms of the wider definitions of church) that we've got.
