Surprisingly Painless

As we got on the bus there was trepidation on both sides, we knew what was at stake here. The journey into the nearby cityl involved double checking what was needed, and preliminary negotiations. Deciding which shops would and wouldn't be visited gave the first indications the of the role the fashion police would be playing in the days proceedings.

To be fair it could have been worse, as the jumpers are standard and the shirts in the small local New Look acceptable it was only trousers, shoes and stationary we were left to find this weekend.

As we stepped off the bus and headed into Bhs I knew today wasn't going to be easy. They had a multitude of black girls trousers but not so many navy. In a town where two of the highschools insist the girls wear navy trousers, (or skirts, but I was bluntly that wearing a skirt to school was suicide), this was not a good sign. The trousers were inspected and the material touched but none were deemed acceptable. A similar story followed in New Look, Marks and Spencer and Debenhams. By this time I was becoming desperate and pointing out she had to wear something for school and so it was we entered Jeans and Things. Third Party entered first ready to ask the shop keeper where she could find the required item, but before she could even open her mouth (and just as I breathlessly entered something which somehow reminded me of the shop in Mr Ben) she was told, "Blue Trousers? We've sold out of size 8, 10 & 12. We can order them in though". After trying on the black equivilent (which of course they had loads of) I was ready to order two pairs, particularly after the mind reading shop assistant said they would turn them up for free. It was only then I looked at the price tag. These trousers obviously have a label and wouldn't I guess be out of place in the magazine reviewed yesterday. However, I recovered myself quickly and realised that in many ways this was a small price for sanity.

We were still left to find something for her to initially go to school in (as it could be up to a month until the wonder trousers arrive) and so it was that we ended up back at Bhs where we had started.

As for the shoes, well they can be black and this year flat shoes are back in fashion. So that took us all of 5 minutes in Qube and (seeing as I'm still technically a student) I even got my student discount.

Seeing as we got the stationary sorted without bloodshed aswell all I can say is it all went surprisingly well.

Oh and thanks to whoever's been praying for us recently. I've had the old Third Party back since Greenbelt. Goodness knows what todays adventure would have been like had I had her alter ego.
