Springing into Springfield

Living in no-where-ville on sea means that we get to see movies (in our ickle two screen cinema) a little later than those of you who live close to civillisation and multi-plexes. So it was only this weekend that Third Party and I toddled off to see The Simpsons Movie .

Have to say it really did appeal to my sense of humour. Not the funniest movie I've ever seen but a reasonable way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Favourite bit was probably when they thought the end of the world was coming and the people in the church all legged it into the bar and the people in the bar all legged it into church - I could so see that happening.

Also glad to say I came out of the movie thinking the same as I do about the tv series, it's the most wholesome and healthy show going. My logic, it depicts real life and all it's dysfunctionality in a genuine way which doesn't shy away from the realities of life but always has the family sticking together in the end and a moral aspect which shows the negative effects of making f**ked up decisions either individually or as a society. Even better it never seeks to preach, but merely to entertain by observing the messed up world around us and the random acts of humanity which brighten it up and keep it going.

(and the above is clear evidence of why you should never let a Sociologist write a film review - we can't watch movies without deconstructing them).
