So what are we following Genesis with? No, not Exodus but Job. OT time is story time and I have to say reading Job 1:1-3:26 I enjoyed getting into the story.
I was struck by a couple of things. Firstly, how Job realised his kids weren't perfect but carried on praying for them and interceeding with God for them because he loved them. As a parent I find this an interesting one and something to think about, in terms of how do I implement it. (Although, as regular readers will know Third Party is a bit Saffy to my Eddy).
Life began to fall apart for Job majorly, but he didn't blame God - he maintained his integrity. That said, he wasn't unimpacted - he goes into a major depression. All v. interesting again as his comment to his wife saying we all face good and bad stuff in life is.
When his friends here they arrive but then end up speechless at the extent of his suffering and his appearance.
All this just on day one...as I say a story I'm enjoying in the same way as one "enjoys" a soap opera.
NT Matt 18:10-35 is one which includes Jesus telling the disciples how Christian Community has to work. It has to be forgiving and honest as well as disciplined.
Psalm 16 1:11 is a happy praise type Psalm.
Continued food for thought on this journey and good reading the day after the inevitable happened and the Tractor Boys failed to make it to Wembley. Now hoping that the cup gets lifted by a bunch of guys blowing bubbles.
