Last night we finally caught up with Miss Potter and I have to say on one hand it was everything I had hoped for and on the other I was sadly disappointed.
The good stuff first:
1)An easy going chick flick
2)Some beautiful shots of the lakes
3) The animation of the pictures and the drawings themselves
4) Several characters who were quite easy on the eye
The bad stuff:
1) Too many actors within it simply recycling other roles (Bridget Jones in an Edwardian Frock, Ewan McGregor doing the doting admirer with a stiff collar, Mr Collins in the proper Pride and Prejudice looking miserable, but this time as a publisher not a vicar and Emma Thompson's mum - Phyllida Law doing the elderly mum thing). To be fair Law is a character actress of some standing who does it so well that it's not really fair to include her in the list. However, with the others it does appear the actors and director lacked imagination and just went for the easy option.
2) The plot was so predictable. Once Potter told McGregor's character he would get a chill you knew his demise was near.
So is it worth seeing, well if you're bored on a cold autumn evening probably.
