Crazy Christmas Travel Adventures

Third Party and I arrived at the station in plenty of time for the 8:46 to London. We purchased our tickets and then went to look at the departure board. The train was running 6 minutes late, not bad seeing as we knew elsewhere had been having bad weather again. Then the time started changing, first adding 2 minutes on and then changing the destination to Peterborough. It became clear that our initial travel plans may not go as planned.

So it was a mad dash back to the ticket office to change our tickets, purchased with a family railcard to alternative ones. Third Party would head seperately off on the intended train to Peterborough and then head cross country to Tractorland (via Norwich as it turned out). I would head of to the land of the carpark and shopping centre via Birmingham.

The ticket swap was interesting and something I am going to have to sort out, eventually, when I get back to Durham after Christmas. The refund part of the transaction doesn't appeared to have taken place and I am not sure I haven't been charged twice for Third Party.

Anyway, then on to the train and I became part of what became a merry band of travellers standing up, falling over, and sitting on luggage between the North East and Sheffield. It was great. The majority were pensioners with attitude....great quote from one. "I always carry my bus pass as back up".

At Sheffield the train cleared as those attempting getting to London swapped trains to go that way. A couple of the pensioners then made a dash for seats. Another older lady who'd been in our collection of those repelling boarders when the train got silly full grabbed my bad, threw it at the pensioner and got me a seat.

So it was I've done part one of the journey safetly and am now installed at TOH's for a few days.

On Christmas eve the adventures start again when TOH and I head to Tractorland.

So all that it remains to say, until after the seasonal period possibly is Happy Christmas one and all. Hope you haveĀ a blessed one.
