I am torn. Violence....is it ever acceptable? Um, I struggle to think so. Yet yesterday apart from the idiots chucking a fire extinguisher from the roof (that's just stupid), I did wonder to myself why they hadn't headed for Cowley Street aswell?
I am more of the school of thought, though, that thinks as a country we should be non-violently occupying our places of learning and work and showing through occupations that we do not find the cuts acceptable. Not sure that there is actually the appitite for this though. Certainly up here I can't see there being any real signs of revolt, rather just apathetic revulsion and silent resignation.
What worries me most is the lack of enthusiasm for protest about it all that those who will truly be hit by the fees thing have. Third Party says she and her friends care, but they didn't care enough to take the day off college yesterday and head to London or actually do anything about it. How do we revolutionalise a bunch of teenagers whose only reaction seems to be, "well I'll have to stay at home for longer then"?
As for me, I was hoping to go down yesterday but life didn't work like that. It was another day, another interview and more importantly there was a prayer meeting I had to be at for Streetlights.
