Exciting

There is a wonderful system up here, or atleast in my world anyway. It works like this. You read about x, y or z exciting opportunity on a blog and then you end up with an e-mail being sent from a completely different direction (normally the Theology department in my case) saying book yourself in on x, y or z conference you want to go to....only cost is if you want food. Thus making exciting events affordable.

The latest one is an event which Michael Volland advertised on his blog about the New Media. I hadn't realised there was a northern leg of the New Media stuff going on. After the Christian New-Media awards ceremony on Friday they are doing a conference in London on the Saturday, (which I gathered was over subsciribed) and then coming up here for the Monday. This is actually way cool (or whatever the naughties version of such sayings is). Thus I was v. happy when my in box got a mail yesterday inviting me to free registration for the conference bit. It's the little things in life that make it all worth while. It does make me laugh though how the London end is being put in user friendly language but for up here they've ponced up the title, calling it just: A Theological Refraction on the Internet: a Global View and making no mention to the more popular advertising going on down south.

I understand the northern leg still has places and the timetable for the day includes:

Homo Connectivus - The effect of the internet on our perception and experience of being human

AKM Adam (Glasgow)

What’s all the fuss about?  It’s only the Web!

Heidi Campbell (Texas A&M)

Is there any Theology amidst all this Media?
