I have too many notebooks knocking around. Some have research notes within them, some are journals of years gone past. In an effort to save money, paper in the recent move I identified which ones had sizeable numbers of pages left in them.
So it was this morning I picked up a journal I hadn't used in over two years. It contained my jottings of my hopes and dreams of the time, aswell as the preperation notes for my first sermon (although it wasn't actually called a sermon). The interesting thing for me was seeing that whilst the hopes and dreams remain largely unaltered I have moved further down the path to achieving them over the last couple of years.
We so often talk about being on a journey, life or spiritual but often it is hard to look back and measure the distance we have travelled. Today, I was able to see and it gave an interesting insight into both where I've come from and where I want to get to.
