A change is as good as a rest

Seeing as I was feeling a bit better today; the frequency with which I am taking the Nurofen has decreased & because I was going stir crazy at home I headed of to the big city today for a GCN gathering.

Was good to meet up with some old people and some new to enjoy the largest pancake I have ever encountered. I also almost managed to stay awake and almost coherent until about 6:00 this evening, although by the end I was completely zonked.

I have realised that besides meeting with like minded people that doing "real life" with internet people has a major benefit. I often do things and experince places that I otherwise probably wouldn't. For example having grown up in tractor land and now living in no-whereville-on-sea the concept of doing things like enjoying a weekend break on a houseboat on the I.O.W., going to My Old Dutch Pancake House or The Duck Tour would be very much off my radar.

As it is over the last couple of years I have enjoyed meeting loads of interesting people and doing some fun things which cost an ickle, but not so much to make them prohibative in the scheme of things.

It's also interesting how people's perceptions have changed as this has become part of my "normal" leisure activities. Whilst local friends initially thought it was a bit wierd or warned me to be careful they now simply say when I'm off to somewhere, "is that to meet some of your friends of the internet?". When I say yes they simply smile, knowing that I (and sometimes Third Party) are off for a good time.
