Public Transport Ticketing

Ok, so we all know that buying train tickets is a scientific exercise, but I thought bus tickets were simple. That was until today when I found out a little advertised Durham City day ticket exists.  I happened to be off on field work locally and so asked my friendly bus driver about the day tickets to see if the anywhere in the North East one I was aware of would work out cheaper today, it appears that inside Durham City you can get a £3.00 all day ticket, (cheaper for some journeys than the return). For those interested in such things here is the Arriva link, explaining their ticketing for the North East.Ironically the much better advertised Go North East tickets do not have the same online information.

I feel a bit bitter that Arriva do not advertise their local day ticket and it is a matter of chance knowing about it. I think I could have saved lots of money over the last 18months had I been aware of this. Surely operators should be required to adequatley advertise their best value tickets.
