Why hiding away in churches might be a better option

At the moment I am of the opinion that hiding away in churches and not deciding to socialise with the wider world around us and ignoring the example of Jesus' life might not be such a bad idea.

Reasons:
1. There is a general lack of fashion sense in churches, (unless, I suppose, you go to somewhere trendy like Hillsong or HTB), and so attending practically any event in jeans, top, jacket and Converse or hiking boots is perfectly acceptable.

2. The types of churches I tend to inhabit are alcohol free zones and so there is no problem about worrying about having too much and doing something an ickle bit silly or too little and looking very boring. Ok you might still do stuff you'd cringe about, but atleast everybody else would be doing it and you are definately going to remember the next day & not have to rely on the selective memory of others.

3. So you're unlikely to like all the music, but atleast you won't be forced into trying to dance to it.

4. It is perfectly acceptable to put on a completely false smile say hello, how are you? and then ignore everybody because you are too busy doing coffee/ chairs / flowers / music (delete as appropriate).

This is all in total contrast to the works do I am going to on Saturday evening which is rapidly turning into my most vivid vision of hell, but I realise actually ticks more boxes than does the above in terms of correlating with the example of Jesus in the bible. (i.e. sitting eating, drinking, chatting and socialising with a bunch of non-religious people in a setting which they are naturally at home in).

I'm sure when Jesus said don't worry about what you wear he had no concept of this type of event. I don't know how to do formal or particularly girly. Any readers who do a passable Trinny or Susannah impression your advice would be greatly appreciated.
