Yesterday I was chatting with TOH about a decision she had made not to continue down the path she had been, marked potential ordinand, at the moment. This friend had realised that whilst she does not want to be an academic God has blessed her with an passion for and skill in a particular subject area. Thus, she has realised that not to use this within whatever comes next would be a dreadful waste and would probably leave her feeling stifled. One of the reasons it had perhaps taken her a while to wake up to this is because in acknowledging her passion she also had to acknowledge her ability in this area, and "being clever" is something that some people find difficult to admit for fear of being labelled proud or big headed, (which is something different). Thankfully, in this case others were coming to similar conclusions and sat her down to discuss their concerns at the path she was taking. Also a job has come up which she has an interview for in a couple of weeks which would enable her to use all that she is and she would love to do. Could you pray for her regarding this, and the future generally. (NB mutual FB friends and people who know us in real life rather than dropping any supportive comments on here can you comment on her FB account or hug her when you see her).
Also on the subject of giftings, skills and passions and stuff I have a "chat" on Monday for a job. Note a chat is different to an interview because I applied for x job and didn't even make the shortlist to be interviewed, but then got a phone call a couple of days ago to see if I would be interested in a job teaching the same subject in the same place but without any additional responsibilities. So I'm going in for a chat with a member of the senior management team on Monday about it. I don't know but I suspect that it may not be a full time job.But actually if it is of a sufficiently high fraction that I could live on the wage it gives and then be able to do voluntary stuff the rest of the time it would suit me down to the ground.
I know there is a certain amount of ambiguity in todays post, but due to the nature of what I'm discussing there has had to have been. Basically, I wanted to use this to reassure some people who may have read TOH's FB status and been a bit concerned that she is very much at peace with all this and is not another victim caught in the crossfire. That said it is good to know that integrity will now be possible. There is a difference between being required to act with discretion, which is still sometimes required for various reasons, and being asked to lie which is what one of this countries finest institutions requires.
